Hawai'i Bowl moves to Christmas Eve

The Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl will move to Christmas Eve at 2 p.m., Jim Donovan, the game's executive director, announced today.
The game had been a 3 p.m. Christmas Day game in its two previous seasons. Between the Hawai'i Bowl, Aloha and O'ahu Bowls, every college bowl game in Hawai'i since 1986 had been on Christmas Day.
The move followed the NFL's move onto Christmas Day this year. The NFL will have a Christmas Day doubleheader for the first time since 1971 and ESPN Regional Television, the owner and operator of the Hawai'i Bowl, did not want to compete with pro football.
