SIGHT 'EMS: Lance Bass of *N Sync was in sync with his grinds at Tiki's Grill & Bar recently, enjoying executive chef's Fred DeAngelo's preparations to the max. The waitstaff and female diners pretty much let Bass eat in peace but wondered about leftovers (there weren't any), since the *N Sync Web site claims a fan once paid more than $1,000 for a piece of French toast Bass had partially eaten and left behind. There's gotta be a better souvenir than uneaten edibles. ...

And out Kailua way, actor David Spade ("Just Shoot Me," "8 Simple Rules") was enjoying a life of leisure, dining at Lucy's Grill one night, then Buzz's Steak House another night. ...

WHEE, THE PEOPLE: Ron Bright, who directs the "Noises Off" production starting tomorrow at Paliku Theatre at Windward Community College, had a close call at a recent rehearsal when he stepped too close to the edge of the stage and fell into the lift for the orchestra pit. Luckily, he escaped serious injury, though assistant director John Paul Tai had to help ice Bright's back. Regular rehearsals resumed — with a cautious eye on the stage drop. ...

Martin Denny turned 93 last Saturday and celebrated among close friends who gathered at his Hawai'i Kai condo for a birthday party. Hardly a "Quiet Village," with Art Todd ("Chanson D'Amour") singing bedside; Shirley Recca dancing the hula (she performed with Denny in the past); and Elaine Floyd (widow of musician Chick Floyd) and Lloyd Kandell (Fluid Floyd of Don Tiki) delivering best wishes. Denny was in the hospital before his birthday and relies on oxygen and a wheelchair these days at home. ...

Must be some connection between culinary greatness and fine music. Steven Sanders of Sanders Piano Company recently sold Steinway & Sons pianos to restaurateurs Clifford Laughton of The Bistro at Century City and Duc Nguyen of Duc's Bistro in Chinatown. K.C. Kwok of Fook Yuen Seafood at the McCully Shopping Center bought a Steinway for his aspiring pianist daughter, Annie, a student of Ellen Masaki who recently was featured on the KHON "Morning News." ...

Don Ho makes a rare radio appearance, joining Harry B. Soria Jr. on "Territorial Airwaves" 5-6 p.m. Sunday on Hawaiian KINE 105.1 FM. Soria, manning the "T.A." mike for 25 years, will recap Ho's illustrious career, working in chatter with some of Uncle Don's musical biggies. And to mark his milestone year, Soria has just released a "Territorial Airwaves" commemorative CD with delightful musical morsels and memories. ...

Na Leo Pilimehana — that's Nalani Choy, Lehua Heine and Angela Morales — will be at La Pietra today, taping a music video linked to their "Local Boys" hit from yesteryear (revived on a reissue CD), with La Pietra students participating on and off camera. The shoot is part of a school digital media project, with La Pietra's Anthony Czaja and James Sereno of Kinetic Productions pulling it all together. ...

After a live interview one day last week with Donald Trump regarding the Miss USA contest, KHNL morning anchor Stephanie Lum managed to get Trump to look straight into the camera and utter his trademark line to co-anchor Paul Drewes: "You're fired!" ...
