Hawai'i Hall of Fame tourney set for May 2-3

The 14th Verizon Hawai'i Hall of Fame Championship will be held May 2 and 3 at the Kapalua Plantation Course.
There will be a pro-am with 28 professionals and their four-person amateur partners on May 1.
Ko Olina's Kevin Carll is the defending champion.

Ko Olina activities scheduled
Play Golf America: There will be a free clinic and orientation, April 30, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Call the Ko Olina Golf Club pro shop at 676-5300 for information.
Nine & Wine: This event for women of all levels will be May 1. Ping demo day starting at 10 a.m., clinic at 2 p.m. and a nine-hole scramble format at 3:30 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony. The fee is $80 per player. For more information, call Tim Dietrich at 676-5300, extension 234.
Kona Open returns
It took four years, but Kevin Hayashi will finally get a chance to defend his title in the Kona Open when it returns to the local golf calendar May 29 and 30 at the Kona Country Club's Ocean Course.
The pros will play for a $12,000 purse in the 36-hole event, open to amateurs with a handicap index of 6.6 or less. There will also be an A flight and women's flight, depending on the number of players.
The entry fee is $220 for pros, $180 for amateurs. Deadline is May 24. For more information, call Jim Shaw at (808) 322-2595.
Kapalua guest program
Golfers have an opportunity to play Kapalua's three championship courses with the new Kapalua Guest Appreciation Program.
The program includes a round each at the Bay, Village and Plantation courses, complimentary range balls and a 10-percent discount on merchandise the day of play.
The package is priced at $330 for guests staying at the Kapalua Bay Hotel and the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua from now through Dec. 19. A special off-property rate is $450 for three rounds.
