Inmate is found dead in infirmary

A 61-year-old inmate was found dead last night in the Halawa Correctional Facility’s infirmary unit where he was being treated for an illness. The man was identified by prison officials as Antonio Prieto.

Prieto was convicted of first-degree sex assault and has been at Halawa since 1995, said Warden Clayton Frank.

Warning tells of donation scam

The Better Business Bureau and CrimeStoppers issued a public warning yesterday about a scam in Waikiki in which people are presented a flower lei by children who say they are seeking a $10 donation for the Boys & Girls Club of Honolulu.

The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii is not conducting any fund-raisers in Waikiki.
