Tonight's Must-See
Baseball, 2 p.m., Fox. It's been almost six years since Fox aired a baseball game in prime time. It does so now (well, sort of: The game airs this afternoon in Hawai'i) to catch the season's first collision between these big-money rivals. The Red Sox came within an eye blink of landing Alex Rodriguez, the super shortstop. Then the Yankees got him, even though they had to move him to third base. The Yanks did lose some pitchers (Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, David Wells) and the Red Sox added some (Curt Schilling, Keith Foulke). We'll see what happens. Fox doesn't have other prime-time games on tap for now, but it starts airing Saturday afternoon games on May 22.
Of Local Note
"Merrie Monarch Festival," 6 p.m., KITV. Tonight's hula kahiko competition features male and female troupes dancing in the traditional style. The festival concludes tomorrow with hula 'auana modern style group competition. Broadcast live from the Edith Kanaka'ole Tennis Stadium in Hilo.
Of Note
"Joan of Arcadia," 7 p.m., CBS. This series began when the spiritual journey of producer Barbara Hall led her to study the life of Joan of Arc. Now Joan does the same after God orders her to study the French saint. Her mom becomes so worried that she wants the whole family to go to therapy.
"One Fine Day" (1996), 8 p.m., ABC Family. George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer bring casual charm to this romantic comedy, playing single parents who meet on a busy day.
"Dinosaur" (2000), 8 and 9:45 p.m., Disney Channel. On one level, this movie has beautiful computer animation. On the other, it has a so-so script and little emotional impact. Alas, Disney's good computer-animation films (not this one) have been from Pixar, which recently ended its Disney partnership.
"Third Watch," 9 p.m., NBC. Cops race to catch two warring ecstasy drug dealers.
