Investigation of Kailua football coach continues
Kailua High School's investigation of complaints against head football coach Darren Johnson will continue through next week, athletic director Mel Imai said last night.
Several assistant coaches filed complaints with the school on Tuesday about Johnson, who has compiled a 58-29-1 record in eight seasons and guided the Surfriders to the past three O'ahu Interscholastic Association title games.
Imai and principal Francine Honda met until about 6:30 last night but decided they need more time.
"We don't want to drag it out, but we don't want to rush through it, either," said Imai, who added they hope to resolve the matter by Friday.
Imai also said a "gag order" has been placed on all parties involved until the process is complete.
