Arts foundation leader elected to national board

Mona Abadir, chairwoman of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, has been elected to the board of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies.

She will help the organization advance and promote a meaningful role for the arts in the lives of individuals, families and communities throughout the country.

Abadir attended her first meeting of the organization last month. Hawai'i has not been represented on the board since 1993.

Abadir, chief operating officer of Honu Group Inc., is an executive board member of the Contemporary Museum, the Waikiki Improvement Association and the Hawai'i Capital Cultural District.
