Lee remains two ahead in Mid-Pac

REGAN LEE

Two-time defending Mid-Pacific Open champion Regan Lee remained in position for a three-peat.

Lee, the second-round leader, shot a 1-under-par 71 yesterday for a 54-hole total of 215 and will take a two-stroke lead into today's final round at the Mid-Pacific Country Club course in Lanikai.

Kenichiro Kato fired the best round of the tournament, a 6-under 66 and is at 217. Joe Phengsavath shot 68 and is at 220.

Lee is trying to become the first to win this tournament three consecutive years.

Mark Takahama (72) is at 221, with Louie Lee (74), 1996 champion Casey Nakama (76), Tim Newbolt (73) and Katsuhiro Miura (74) at 222.

Lee, Kato, Phengsavath and Takahama will be teeing off in today's final group at 9 a.m.
