Charge filed in Salt Lake attack

A Wahiawa man was charged last night with second-degree robbery for allegedly pushing an 80-year-old Salt Lake woman down and stealing her purse on March 31.

Gavin W. Bolosan, 26, was identified through information provided on a warranty form he filled out while trying to purchase a digital camera with a credit card taken in the robbery, according to a police report filed at District Court. Bolosan's bail is $50,000.

The woman suffered a fractured finger and injuries to her shoulder and knees. The woman was robbed at 5 a.m. near her car, which was parked on Ala Lilikoi Street.


Waipahu brawl ends in stabbing

A 35-year-old man was stabbed in the chest with a kitchen knife last night during a fight between men who were drinking together at a Waipahu apartment complex.

The stabbing at 94-106 Pupupuhi St. was reported to police at 11:25 p.m. The injured man was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in guarded condition, police said.

Another man, 68, was struck in the face during the scuffle but declined treatment, police said.

Police are investigating the stabbing as an attempted murder. There were no arrests.


Vegas illness reports dwindle

The number of Las Vegas visitors reporting new cases of a gastro-intestinal illness associated with the California Hotel and Casino continued to dwindle last week, Nevada officials said yesterday.

Clark County Health District spokesman Dave Tonelli said the latest statistics showed six new cases last week. That brings the total number of illnesses reported Dec. 3 through last week to 1,634, mostly visitors from Hawai'i.
