Tonight's Must-See

"The West Wing," 8 p.m., NBC. After being on and off the air lately, "The West Wing" is back for a four-week story arc centered on a brash new deputy national security adviser played by Mary McCormack ( "K Street"). Meanwhile, the president is changing his stand on free trade and overseas jobs. C.J. fumes after an FCC decision allows groups to own more TV stations.

"Moguls," 6 p.m., TV Land. In its earliest days, TV had the stars and the scripts. What it lacked were the moguls to run the shows. In the 1950s, it got two unlikely ones. Desi Arnaz was a former bongo player and singer. He brought new techniques to "I Love Lucy." Soon he and wife Lucille Ball had filled their Desilu studio with shows mimicking the style. Sheldon Leonard was an actor known for playing tough-talking hoodlums. He produced shows for Danny Thomas, Andy Griffith, Dick Van Dyke and more, making sure they had sharp, smart scripts. They are profiled here in an interesting hour that launches a six-week series.

Of Note

"My Wife & Kids," 7 and 7:30 p.m., ABC. Both episodes focus on the relationship between Michael (Damon Wayans) and his wife, Jay (Tisha Campbell-Martin). In the first — a new episode, scheduled for last week, then delayed — their plans for a romantic getaway fizzle. In the second, a rerun, they try to outdo each other's gifts.

"The Bachelor," 8 p.m., ABC. The women take compatibility tests to see which would match up with Jesse. The winners have one-on-one dates with him.

"P.O.V.: Love & Diane," 9 p.m., PBS. When Love Hazzard was 8, she told a teacher that her mother's crack habit often left the six kids abandoned. What followed was a decade of struggles through the child-welfare system. Now, at 18, Love has a baby of her own. She struggles to change her life; so does her mother in this documentary.

"Law & Order," 9 p.m., NBC. When the New York Yankees' most-hated TV fan is killed, there are plenty of suspects.
