Rocks jam up H-1 westbound

Traffic in the westbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway was backed up for miles yesterday after a truck dumped a load of rocks near the Waiawa overpass.

The 1:30 p.m. incident was just west of the overpass. No one was injured, but H-1 resembled a parking lot as police closed lanes to allow crews to clean up the mess.

At one point, cars were lined up to the Kaonohi Street overpass. The road was cleared at about 3:30 p.m., said Department of Transportation spokesman Scott Ishikawa.
