UH's Kodama second at Utah golf tournament

University of Hawai'i golfer Matthew Kodama is in second place after day two of the Ping Golf Cougar Classic at Riverside Golf Course in Provo, Utah.
Kodama, a senior from Las Vegas, shot a five-under 67 yesterday for a two-day total of 136.
UTEP's Chris Baryla is in first (8-under 136), and Utah is three strokes ahead of BYU in the team competition at 568. Hawai'i is 11th with a 587.
College Athletics
Hawai'i 67th in Director's Cup standings: The University of Hawai'i is 67th in the latest standings of the United States Sports Academy Director's Cup, which ranks schools according to how each of their teams perform.
Hawai'i, which accumulated 179.5 points during the Winter season, is tied with Northwestern, and is 838.8 points behind leader Michigan. Eight-time defending champion Stanford is second.

Kailua investigation complete: Kailua High School's investigation into complaints against head football coach Darren Johnson are complete, athletic director Mel Imai said last night. Principal Francine Honda is expected to make a decision on the results by Monday afternoon, according to Imai.
Several assistant coaches filed formal complaints to the school April 6 about Johnson, who has compiled a record of 50-29-1 in eight seasons at Kailua.
Imai said "all the people who needed to be interviewed have already been talked to," regarding the complaints.

UH's Young excels at Drake Relays: University of Hawai'i runner Kelly Young reached an NCAA regional qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles yesterday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
Her time of 1:00.18 missed the UH record by less than one second. Young, a freshman from Lisarow, Australia, qualified for the 800 earlier this spring.
Young, Carolyn Berger, Ashley Monfort and Dana Buchanan set a UH record in the distance medley relay and finished fifth with a time of 11:39.26.
Softball
Vulcans, Toros rained out: A scheduled doubleheader yesterday at UH-Hilo Softball Field between Hilo and Cal State Dominguez Hill was cancelled because of rain.
