Charge filed in stabbing

Authorities yesterday charged a 36-year-old man with stabbing another man Friday at a billiards parlor at 1334 Young St.

Jin Woo Chong, who has no permanent local address, is charged with attempted second-degree murder. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The injured man, 41, was taken to The Queen’s Medical Center with a stab wound to the stomach that placed him at "serious risk of death," according to a police report filed today at District Court. He was listed today in fair condition at Queen’s.

According to the report, Chong and the man were fighting in a parking lot at 1334 Young St. The 3:30 p.m. stabbing occurred after the fight was broken up. Chong was arrested at Sheridan and Liona streets at 3:50 p.m.

Mapunapuna street closed

A section of Ahua Street between 'Awa'awaloa and Mokumoa streets in Mapunapuna was closed to traffic today because of a water-main break.

The break in an eight-inch pipe was reported at 12:45 a.m. today. The main was repaired by 8:20 a.m., but work on the road was expected to last until midafternoon.

Hale'iwa service station robbed

A gunman has robbed the Kawamata Brothers’ Shell service station in Hale'iwa of an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Friday-night incident at the station, 66-540 Kamehameha Highway, was reported to police at 8 p.m. No one was injured.

Tentative ID in 'Ewa case

Police have tentatively identified a woman whose body was found Friday near a farm gate at 91-2161 Old Fort Weaver Road in 'Ewa, said homicide Lt. David Kamai.

The medical examiner’s office was withholding her name pending notification of family.
