Drug deal may have led to woman's death

Police have identified a homicide victim found Friday at the gate of a goat farm in 'Ewa as Robyn Mae Nakaji, 46, of Honolulu.

The body of Robyn Mae Nakaji was found Friday near a farm on Old Fort Weaver Road.
Nakaji's death was the result of a drug deal gone bad, according to a police source who asked not to be identified because of the ongoing investigation. More than one person killed her, and she did not appear to be the victim of sexual assault, according to the source.

The City Medical Examiner's office said Nakaji died of blunt and sharp force injuries to the head and neck.

On Friday, workers found Nakaji's body wrapped in a blanket and tarp near a gate of the farm at 91-2161 Old Fort Weaver Road. When her body was discovered by police, it was covered by bags of rubbish.

Homicide Lt. David Kamai said Nakaji, who was married and had two children, was last seen on Thursday walking near the Taco Bell on Kapahulu Avenue around noon.

Kamai said police are analyzing tire tracks found near the body to determine if any belonged to a vehicle that may be involved in the killing. On Friday, Kamai said he believed the woman died before her body was dumped at the farm.

Nakaji worked for an independent contractor delivering newspapers, according to her husband.

Daryl Nakaji, a 45 year-old employee of Napa Autoparts, was married to Robyn for 23 years. He said she was the strongest member of the family, and that the couple's two children, a 14-year-old boy and 20-year-old girl, really loved her.

"She loves her kids dearly; she would never hurt no one," Nakaji said by phone yesterday from the couple's Kapahulu home. "She was a good person. She was the epoxy of the family, she held everything together."

Nakaji declined to comment about the nature of his wife's death.
