UH softball player on Australian Olympic team

Advertiser Staff

University of Hawai'i softball All-American Stacey Porter was named to Australia’s Olympic team today, joining former UH All-American Brooke Wilkins on the 15-player roster.

Porter took this season off to train for the Olympics. She is playing third base for Australia, which has won bronze medals the first two years of Olympic softball.

The 2003 WAC Player of the Year primarily played first for the Rainbow Wahine the last three seasons. She holds the UH single-season and career records for homeruns (17 and 38) and also set season records for batting average (.479) and doubles (19) last year.

Porter plans to return to Manoa in the spring to play her senior season. The 2004 Summer Games are in Athens in August.
