The Honolulu Symphony's Hawaiian Airlines Pops Series rocks on with the Grammy award-winning Toto, right. Fusing pop, rock and disco elements made the group famous through songs such as "Africa," "Rosanna" and "I Won't Hold You Back." Matt Catingub conducts. Tickets are $25, $35, $45, $55 and $70.

Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins heads this way again for a concert; we last heard from him at a New Year's Eve gala at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. After splitting from the musical duo Loggins and Messina, Loggins went on to garner 12 platinum albums and 14 gold albums, ultimately selling more than 20 million albums worldwide. Hits include "Celebrate Me Home," "Whenever I Call You Friend" and "Footloose." Tickets are $30 lawn and $55 reserved.

People and pets are welcome to the Hawaii Pet Expo 2004, presented by the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association. Following the theme "People and Pets, a Loving Bond," the expo offers informative displays, animal demonstrations, new pet products and services and free pet-care advice at the Ask-A-Vet booth. The first day of the show features an all-breed parade of cats at 11:30 a.m. and an all-breed parade of dogs at 1:30 p.m. The second day of the show features a petting zoo, household cat show at 11:30 a.m. and Hawaiian Kennel Club Puppy Match at noon. Pets attending the show must be under their owner's control at all times, and dogs must be leashed. Admission is free, and donations of nonperishable food items are welcome to benefit the Hawaii Foodbank.

Hawai'i jams again at Budweiser True Music's 9th annual Jammin' Hawaiians concert. The stellar entertainment lineup of local performers includes Pati, Ten Feet, Three Plus, Opihi Pickers, Kekai Boys, Sudden Rush, and Ho'onu'a, left, with others to be announced later. Tickets range from $10 to $26.

Heads up: The lions are coming! Lion dancers from around the world will roar their way into Honolulu for the Hawaii World Invitational Lion Dance Championships. Ten teams from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, Britain and Hawai'i will don colorful costumes and dance on pillars up to 10 feet high and one foot wide. Tickets are $35 and $50 general and $65 for Red Carpet.

Enjoy a burst of blues from Chicago, Louisiana and more during the 8th annual Hawaiian Islands Rhythm and Blues Mele 2004. The Eric Sardinas Trio opens up the night with hot blues-rock sounds on the electric slide Dobro guitar. The second act features guitarist/songwriter/singer Sonny Landreth, with the Lafayette Rhythm Section putting on the grooves with some swamp blues and southern rock. The seven-piece Chicago Reunion Blues Band headlines the event, featuring Nick Gravenites, Harvey Mandel, Tracy Nelson, Corky Siegel, Zak Wagner, Rick Reed and Don Heffington. Tickets are $30 advance and $40 at the door. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

Manoa Valley Theatre's next production is the drama "Gunfighter," based on the true story of Lt. Col. Ralph Hayles. Hayles was the first soldier in the history of the U.S. Army to be named publicly as the shooter in a friendly-fire incident during the 1991 Gulf War. It's written by award-winning playwright Mark Medoff, who also co-directs the play with Joyce Maltby. Tickets are $25, with a $5 discount for seniors and military. Those 25 and younger pay $15.

FESTIVAL: May 27-30
The Honolulu Gay and Lesbian Cultural Foundation presents the 15th annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival, formerly called the Adam Baran Honolulu Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Film offerings this year includes "Revolution," a documentary featuring Margaret Cho on opening night, and "A Touch of Pink," with Kyle MacLachlan, right, from "Sex and the City." Tickets to each film are $6. There will also be a free educational screening on May 29, featuring the documentary "Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin." Later that evening, there will be a gala reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Henry R. Luce Pavilion for the premiere of "Eating Out." The cast and producers of the film will make an appearance. Tickets are $25 for the reception and film screening. All other films are $8 general, $6 for HGLCF members.

The Actors' Group wraps up its 2003-2004 season with the Broadway comedy "The Sunshine Boys." Here's the story: A popular comic duo from the late '20s to the '60s, Willie Clark and Al Lewis are asked to come together again by Willie's nephew Ben for a vaudeville sketch. But the problem is getting them together in the first place, since they had a falling out more than a decade earlier. Glenn Cannon directs the play and also acts as Willie, with Sam Polson as Al. David Farmer plays Ben. Tickets are $10.

Hawaiian style: "Kumulipo II, a Hawaiian Concert," 7 p.m. May 8 at the Hawai'i Theatre, is a project of Halau Ku Mana, a Native Hawaiian charter school at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa. The roster of performers includes Kainani Kahaunaele & the Wish List Band, Kaumaka'iwa "Lopaka" Kanaka'ole, Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom & Friends, Halau Ku Mana, Kalia and Ka Lei Papahi 'O Kakuhihewa. Tickets: $20, $25 at the Hawai'i Theatre box office.
Country caper: "Take a Walk in the Country 2" may sound like a misnomer, since it won't be held in the country (like last year's, at the Makaha Resort). No matter; The Makaha Sons' summer wing-ding, which used to be called The Makaha Bash, will be at 5 p.m. June 12 (doors open at 3:30 p.m.) at the Waikiki Shell. Guests include Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom and Willie K, Ho'okena, Kapena, Na Palapalai, Three Plus, Maunalua, The Lim Family, Robert Cazimero, Auntie Genoa Keawe and the halau of Sonny Ching and Olana and Howard Ai.
