JACQUELINE GUILBERT FARIA BLACKSHEAR FERRIS, 73, of Fairfield, Ohio, formerly of Honolulu and Hilo, Hawai'i, died April 16, 2004. Born in Illinois. Longtime Hawaiian Telephone Co. employee; and community volunteer, including member and one-time chairwoman, Hawai'i County Police Commission; and president, American Cancer Society; on the board of a number of organizations, including the YMCA, Hawai'i Visitors Bureau (Hawai'i Chapter), Historic Hawai'i, Planned Parenthood and Panaewa Zoo, and trustee and docent, Lyman Museum, Hilo. Also the first state waterski champion, and successful in skiing from Moloka'i to O'ahu. Survived by family, including Barbara Ann and Gary Andersen and Joan and Jim Blackshear-Leech. Private memorial gatherings. Donations to Hospice of Hilo, or one's favorite charity. Body donated to science.
ROWLAND LEO FRENDO, 84, of Honolulu, died April 27, 2004. Born in 'Aiea. Retired construction and maintenance superintendent at the O'ahu Community Correctional Center.
