McLachlin wins golf crown, $20,000 on Tight Lies Tour

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Parker McLachlin, a Hooters Tour regular and winner of the Golden Corner Charity Classic in April, fired a closing 6-under-par 66 to win the Rose Creek Oklahoma Classic yesterday at Edmond, Okla.

The victory on the Tight Lies Tour earned the Punahou School graduate $20,000.

McLachlin finished at 279 for a one-shot victory.

"I wanted to get off to a good start and did," McLachlin said. "I birdied the first three out of the first four holes. I felt that once I got the lead they would have to chase me."

His fast start gave him a one-shot lead after only four holes over third-round co-leaders Dustin Wigington and Rich Morris. Wigington finished third and Morris finished fourth.

Steve Thomas, who recently won a Cadillac Series event in Arkansas, finished second with a closing 67. Thomas just missed an eagle at the last hole that would have forced a playoff.
