Man accused of credit card theft
A 34-year-old man is facing charges of forgery, fraudulent use of a credit card and identity theft after he was caught using an allegedly stolen credit card while trying to buy a gold necklace at an Ala Moana area jewelry store yesterday morning.
The credit card company rejected the purchase and when the store clerk checked to see why, the company said the card had been reported stolen.
Police were called and the man was arrested.
Woman arrested in La'ie car theft
A 29-year-old woman was arrested at the main police cellblock yesterday in connection with a June 21 car theft at Malaekahana State Park in La'ie.
A Wahiawa man had reported the car theft about six weeks ago. About a week later, a witness reported seeing a woman with the car in the parking lot of the Laie Inn.
On July 21, the witness was shown a photographic lineup and identified the woman who had been seen driving the stolen car.
Officers working on the case learned yesterday that the woman was being held in the cellblock at the main station on an unrelated charge, so they went to the station and arrested her in connection with the car theft.
