Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu club scene gets a slick new lounge tonight as the Buddha Bar opens for business at the former House of Hong in Waikiki.

Promising a modern upscale European nightclub experience comfortably co-mingling with Asian accents, the two-floor club bows with jazzy lounge, house and hip-hop courtesy of DJ Daniel J.

Buddha Bar developers boast former evening promotions at Royalton Nightclub, Nick's Ultralounge, Maze and Indigo Eurasian Cuisine. From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., Thursday through Saturday at 260 Lewers St. More information at 923-0202.

Snooping his little black Palm Pilot

Ever thought of doing a little snooping into your boyfriend's past?

That's the premise behind "Little Black Book," a movie that opens tomorrow and stars Brittany Murphy as a girlfriend who discovers more than she expected when she gets her hands on her boyfriend's Palm Pilot.

The idea may not be that far removed from reality. Men and women are about equal when it comes to being snoop dawgs, says a July survey by Marie Claire and Maxim magazines. About one-third of men admitted snooping: 29 percent copped to perusing a girlfriend's diary, and 34 percent said they've logged onto her e-mail account. Women don't have much room to be outraged: 37 percent said they've "glanced" at the contents of their partners' inboxes.
