Woman named to historical post

The Historic Hawai'i Foundation has named Patty Young-Kingsbury as membership/marketing director.

Young-Kingsbury will be responsible for developing and managing the foundation's fund-raising, marketing and membership programs. She will also be responsible for designing and maintaining electronic programs, the writing of grants, and financial translation activities.



Rosenberg stays in national post

Michael Rosenberg of Honolulu has been re-elected as a national vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Rosenberg is president and general manager of KITV. He also serves on the boards of the Manoa Valley Theater and the Better Business Bureau Foundation of Hawaii.



Red Cross unit names directors

The Hawaii Red Cross has named its new board of directors.

The board members are: Jeffrey Harris, who is also director/president of Torkildson, Katz, Fonseca, Moore & Hetherington; Randy Harris, former vice chairman of Merrill Lynch International; Faye Kurren, president/CEO of Hawaii Dental Services; Greg Meier, president of Starbucks Coffee and Jamba Juice Hawaii; Gary North, senior vice presidentiPacific at Matson Navigation Co.

Also, Jean Rolles, vice president/ assistant corporate secretary at Outrigger Hotels; Sheryl Seaman, vice chairman of Group 70; Gerald Sumida, of Counsel, Carlsmith Ball; Donn Takaki Jr., president of Hawktree International; Nonie Toledo, vice president/ general manager of Sprint Hawaii; and Jim Yates, president of The Gas Company.



Awards honor geographic work

The Hawaii Geographic Information Coordinating Council has recognized local professionals for their work in promoting awareness of geographic information systems technologies.

The president's award went to Joan Esposo of the Office of Planning, state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism; the chairperson's award, Goro Sulijoadikusumo of the state highways planning branch; and the award for best poster agency support and cooperation, Justin Pummell of the Army Corps of Engineers.

The Palapala 'Aina Award went to the city government's Honolulu Land Information System.

The Hawaii Geographic Information Coordinating Council also elected its executive board: Craig Tasaka, Ingrid Kunimura, Ken Schmidt, Lisa Wong, Michael Parke and Ron Salz.



Yee to head Mililani Rotary

Dexter Yee has been named president of the Rotary Club of Mililani for 2004-05. Other officers and board members are vice president Donald Birdseye, secretary Josie Brede, treasurer Yolette Nishimoto and president-elect Michael Kaualoku.



Educators get recognition

This year's recipients of the Outstanding Educators Awards sponsored by Oceanic Time Warner Cable and Pizza Hut are:

Moylan honored as volunteer

Jim Moylan has received the Agency Hands in the Community Award for his commitment to volunteerism.

In addition, a grant of $500 from the Allstate Foundation was made to Junior Achievement of Hawaii, where Moylan volunteers.

As a volunteer classroom instructor, Moylan helps students learn about the workplace, the wage system, what taxes are and how they are used, and where to save money.



Iolani student to be delegate

Landon Leu, a student at Iolani School, has been selected to attend LeadAmerica's 2004 Congressional Student Leadership Conference in Washington.

The conference is a college-accredited invitational leadership program for promising young leaders.
