No. 4 seeds in Kailua semis

Fourth-seeded Stefan Pampulov and Jan Tribler advanced to the semifinals of the Kailua Racquet Club's Men's Night Doubles last night.
Pampulov and Tribler ousted Bob Beckvall and Charles Swift, 6-3, 6-3, in the night's only scheduled quarterfinal match.
In round of 16 play, top seeds Michael Bruggemann and Erich Chen advanced, along with second seeds Ikaika Jobe and Bradley Lum-Tucker.
Bruggemann and Chen beat Randy Baldemor and Ryan Laws, 6-2, 7-6 (1), while Jobe and Lum-Tucker eliminated Mike Burger and Kai Ohuchi, 6-1, 6-3.
Also advancing to the quarterfinals were third seeds Hong Tae Kim and Wei-Yu Su, who won by default over Willem Schutte and Ben Salomon. A tournament spokeswoman said Schutte chose to be with his wife, who just gave birth.
Three quarterfinal matches are scheduled to be played tonight, starting at 6.

Women's stroke play postponed by rain
Heavy rains forced the postponement of yesterday's second round of play in the Hawai'i State Women's Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at Mid-Pacific Country Club.
Punahou freshman Stephanie Kono, who opened with a 2-over-par 74 Tuesday, has a two-stroke lead in a bid to defend her title.
Tournament officials hope to complete the final 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament today. Leaders are scheduled to tee off at 9:22 this morning.
Watabu, Kodama trail by 7 at amateur event
Casey Watabu, of Kapa'a, Kaua'i, and former University of Hawai'i golfer Matt Kodama were both at 2-over-par 144, seven strokes off the lead at the Pacific Coast Amateur Championship in Eugene, Ore.
Watabu shot even-par 71 and Kodama 2-over 73 yesterday at the 6,855-yard Eugene Country Club.
Michael Putnam (70) and Spencer Levin (71) share the second-round lead at 5-under 137.
BASEBALL Kihei Majors fall to 1-2 at Northwest Regional
Idaho defeated Kihei, Maui, 8-7, yesterday at the Little League Majors (ages 11-12) Northwest Regional at San Bernardino, Calif.
Kihei, which is 1-2 in the six-team field, plays Oregon on Saturday.
SOFTBALL Texas tops Holomua at Junior Olympics, 5-1
The Texas Flash beat Holomua, 5-1, yesterday in the final round of pool play at the ASA Junior Olympic Nationals for ages 10 and under at Tulsa, Okla.
Kaitlynn Wills went 2 for 3 and Maycee Moe had a double for Holomua, which is 1-1 entering double-elimination play.
PEP RALLY UH's fall season to kick off Saturday
The University of Hawai'i kicks off its fall sports season Saturday with a pep rally at the Ward Village parking lot.
Fans can meet players and coaches from the UH football, men's golf, soccer, swimming and diving, track and women's volleyball teams. The pep band will also make an appearance.
"It will be an exciting event for the whole family, including food and game booths, giveaways and a chance to win great prizes," said Tom Sadler, UH's associate athletic director.
KKEA's Scott Robbs will host the event, which begins at 11:30 a.m.
VOLLEYBALL Final Rainbow Wahine camp set Aug. 9 to 12
The fourth and final University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball camp will be held Aug. 9 to 12 at the Stan Sheriff Center and other campus gyms.
The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 4 to 12 and costs $150.
