HUGH R. PINGREE, 77, former president and vice chairman of First Hawaiian Bank, died Aug. 5, 2004. Born in Los Angeles. Began his banking career as a teller in 1949, working his way up the ranks to become president in 1979. Survived by wife, C.J.; daughters, Debra Heien, Robyn Starr Pistor and Gayle Pingree; grandchildren, Daniel Pistor, John Van Atta, Jason Pistor, Nicholas Van Atta and Amanda Heien. JOHN PETER PREHN, 66, of Mililani, died July 16, 2004. Born in Rochester, N.Y. First sergeant retired from the U.S. Army who served in Vietnam and Korea; later employed by Fepsco Company.
