• A proposed state plan that would guide the growth of the local tourism industry through 2015 will be previewed at a series of statewide public meetings continuing with a hearing today at the state Convention Center. The Hawai'i Tourism Authority effort was a result of review of the latest tourism research, input from community and tourism industry, and an assessment of expected changes in the industry, globally and locally over the next decade. • Kitty Lagareta, chairwoman and chief executive officer of Communications Pacific, will take a look at the past, present and future of the public relations profession in an upcoming speech. The address, "A Look Back ... A Look to the Future How the PR Professional is Changing," is scheduled at the luncheon meeting, 11:30 a.m. (registration) Aug. 18, of the local chapter of the PUBLIC RELATIONS SOCIETY OF AMERICA. The meeting will be held in the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, Koko Crater Room.
