Airline workers get profit share

Hawaiian Airlines made a $1.6 million profit-sharing payment to employees yesterday that was reduced because of increased fuel prices.

The payment was the last of $8.6 million worth of profit sharing negotiated as part of employee concessions in 2003. The agreement called for 10 percent of the company's operating profits in excess of its quarterly targets to be paid as quarterly bonuses.



Security guard job interviews

Star Protection Agency will accept applications and conduct preliminary job interviews for full-time security officers for shopping malls, businesses and condominiums, Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at O'ahu WorkLinks Makalapa One Stop Center. Suit filed over macadamia deal

ML Macadamia Orchards L.P., a Hilo, Hawai'i-based grower of macadamia nuts, and three smaller growers filed a lawsuit yesterday to try to stop Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Holdings from acquiring Mac Farms of Hawaii. The plaintiffs contend that the purchase would give Mauna Loa a monopoly over the mac nut industry. Mauna Loa owns Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Corp., the largest mac nut processor in the state; Mac Farms is the second-largest processor.
