Sound of Hawai'i on the Prairie

Baritone Quinn Kelsey, a local opera singer, will perform on "A Prairie Home Companion" in a live broadcast from 6 to 8 p.m. today, originating from Ravinia outside Chicago, and heard on KHPR 81.1 Honolulu; KKUA 90.7 Wailuku, Maui; and KANO 91.1 Hilo, Hawai'i. The show will repeat from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow on KIPO 89.3 Honolulu.

The program, marking the 100th annual Ravinia Festival at the Ravinia Park Pavilion, also will feature opera singer Nicole Cabell, gospel singer Jearlyn Steele and the bluegrass quintet Kenny and Amanda Smith Band.

Kelsey is a second-year member of the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists. He has performed with the Hawaii Opera Theatre, the Honolulu Symphony and the Maui Symphony.
