The Olympic Games, originally conceived by the ancient Greeks, featured classic sports such as archery, shotput and javelin throwing. Throughout time, additional events have been added, reflecting the changes and preferences of athletes worldwide.

In 2004, our modern world is rife with multitasking, saturated by speed and fueled by consumerism. Perhaps it's time to consider some new Olympic events. In other words, these endeavors aren't in the Games — but maybe they should be.

These events would bring out the athlete in us all.

"Flash Motokami," Internet surfer

"I hit as many sites as I can during a single session — my personal record is 63 sites within 70 minutes! I do finger push-ups to ensure quick-as-lightning click speeds and eyeball strengthening exercises to increase my visual stamina.

"I am inspired by famous explorers, like Marco Polo and Neil Armstrong, as well as surfers like Kelly Slater."

Chanel Shiraishi wears a track suit, about $22 for the set from Ever Blue Casuals.

"Chanel St. John," power shopper

"There is nothing like the thrill of a good sale, and my specialty is bargain-hunting. I warm up by checking out new window displays. I prepare myself by doing my research. I read Vogue, Bazaar and of course, Lucky, the magazine about shopping and nothing but shopping.

"When I see another woman eyeing an item I want, it gets my competitive juices flowing."

Cherie Loughran wears a Biore Pore Perfect mask, available in drugstores.

"Rumer Bell," marathon cell-phoner

"My favorite piece of equipment is definitely the headset, preferably wireless, for true hands-free phoning. It takes me from home to the car to work and play, all without missing a word. Some of the most important skills I've mastered include three-way calling, use of the speaker phone and accessing my phone book while on the line.

"Chewing gum has really improved my jaw strength and enabled me to carry on extremely long conversations."
