East-West Center to honor historian

Jeannette "Benji" Bennington will be honored for her 42 years of service to the East-West Center and celebrated for her 70th birthday at a reception, 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the East-West Center Gallery.

There will be live performances by her friends as well as Indonesian pupus.

Bennington's first position with the center was as a desk clerk.

She was instrumental in the development of the center's arts program.

Her contributions and understanding of the arts of Asia and the Pacific have earned her the title of "center historian."

Guests interested in attending the reception are asked to RSVP by Monday by phoning 944-7111.

The center requests $7 for refreshments.
