Reality show looking for quirky Island family

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Wanted: A Hawai'i family.

'TRADING SPOUSES' FAMILY AUDITIONS

From 5 to 9 p.m. Friday

Hard Rock Cafe, Waikiki

Bring two photos of the family

Details: www.fox.com

Purpose: Live your life before a viewing audience.

Destination: Fox TV's "Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy," a reality series preparing its second season.

"The program provides the opportunity for families to share and enjoy radically different lifestyles to which they may never otherwise be exposed," said Tyler Ramsey, supervising casting producer at Rocket Science Laboratories, which also produces "Joe Millionaire," "Temptation Island" and "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance," all on Fox.

An open casting call will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hard Rock Cafe in Waikiki.

"We are looking for fun families with eclectic backgrounds, eccentric lifestyles and an interesting family dynamic," said Ramsey.

There is a financial perk, but families — parents and children alike — will be appearing in a fishbowl environment, with viewers watching their moments of conflicts as well as their happy times when there's a mommy switch. In other words, the producers expect to depict real life situations — the smiles with the tears — that make a family tick, with a new wrinkle. Presumably, this generates ratings.

Interested families should bring two family photos to the auditions, or visit www.fox.com for more information on the show and audition dynamics.
