Son arrested after altercation

A 34-year-old Makakilo man is facing possible criminal property damage and drug charges stemming from an altercation with his parents yesterday morning over his alleged drug abuse.

The man's father, 58, and mother, 57, told police they decided to confront their son about drugs. The parents said the son became irate, went to the garage, grabbed a 5-gallon gasoline container and poured the fuel over the couple's truck.

The son was trying to light the gasoline with a cigarette lighter when one of the parents sprayed him with a garden hose, police said.

Officers arrived at the home and arrested the son after a brief struggle. They reported finding a glass pipe containing drug residue in the son's pocket while searching him after he was arrested.

Charges against the son are pending.

Girl, 14, accused of damaging car

A 14-year-old Waipahu girl was arrested on suspicion of criminal property damage after a Pupukahi Street resident told police she saw the girl jumping up and down on the roof of her vehicle.

It appeared the damage would cost more than $1,500 to repair, police said.

Responding officers located the girl, who was positively identified and arrested.

Wai'anae man held in attacks

A Wai'anae man was charged with multiple sex assault offenses yesterday for allegedly attacking a 15-year-old boy over a monthlong period.

Bail for Michael Mar, 27, of an Ala Walua Street address was set at $50,000.

Woman reports sexual assault

Police are investigating a complaint by a 19-year-old woman who said she was sexually assaulted in the university area about 2:30 a.m. yesterday.

The woman told police she was using a pay telephone on University Avenue when a man approached her and assaulted her.
