ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Shirt honors Father Damien

Advertiser Staff

He might not be a saint yet, but Father Damien is an aloha shirt, thanks to Reyn Spooner.

The shirt was designed by Dietrich Varez at the behest of a customer, who suggested a fabric with the popular historic figure.

The new, $69 shirt, available in button-front or pullover style, is available at all Reyn's stores and through www.reyns.com.

BOX OFFICE

'Alien vs. Predator' tops

The conjoining of the slimy "Alien" monster and the deadly "Predator" soldiers into the same film ended up making $38.25 million over the weekend — more than when "Freddy vs. Jason" broke horror-flick records last year. "Alien vs. Predator" had a better first weekend than any of the four "Alien" films or either of the two previous "Predator" movies.

Meanwhile, the sequel "Princess Diaries 2," brought in $23 million — a second-place finish. Tom Cruise's "Collateral" fell to third place, taking in $16 million in its second week, and "Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie" finished in fourth position at $9.36 million.

FINAL WORD

Rick Dallago | co-executive producer for the WB's new series "Rocky Point," on working in Hawai'i:

"We understand that this is a great place to live. The work can be very stressful, and we put in long hours, but there are a few moments each day when the sun is going up or going down, and it's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. It's very humbling."
