Tonight's Must-See
"The Olympics," 6 to 10 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. to early morning hours, NBC. This is the night for leaping pixies. It's the gold-medal finals for the women's gymnastic teams. There also are four gold medals to be given out in swimming. Meanwhile, women's beach volleyball continues.
"P.O.V.: Every Mother's Son," 10 p.m., PBS. Anthony Baez was playing football outside his New York City home, this film says, when the ball bounced off a police car. Soon, he was grabbed by a policeman. He died that day. Police said it was asthma; doctors said he was choked to death. His mother began a frustrating attempt to get a murder conviction. That was one of many cases during the administration of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, this documentary says, in which minority youths were killed by police. Baez's mother, who is Puerto Rican, joined with two other moms a Hasidic Jew and a native of West Africa to protest. This film tells their emotional story.
Of Note

"According to Jim," 8 p.m., ABC. In the first rerun, Jim's kids run a lemonade stand; in the second, he fears that annoying people will be his neighbors.
"Summerland," 8 p.m., WB. This Malibu drama with sunny settings, pretty faces and trim bodies has been a modest ratings success this summer. Now the first season ends with Ava (Lori Loughlin) trying to choose between two hunks, Simon and Johnny.
