A final gift of life

A heart-warming report by staff writer Anna Weaver detailed the death-cheating legacy of Steven Ginoza, who chose to be an organ donor.

Ginoza, 28, died four years ago as the result of a fall, but on that same day four people were saved when they became recipients of his heart, his kidneys and his liver. It's unusual that the family of the deceased donor meets the recipients, but imagine how Ginoza's mother felt when she was able to listen to her son's heart beating inside Yolanda Domingo's chest.

To become a designated organ donor, call the Organ Donation Center of Hawai'i at 599-7630.
