Tonight's Must-See
"Brandy & Mr. Whiskers" debut, 8 p.m., Disney Channel. Brandy is a pampered princess type. Mr. Whiskers is friendless and clueless. Brandy is a dog, Whiskers is a bunny, but they would be mismatched in any species. Now they're stranded together in the Amazon. Without a clue or a mall, they need each other. That starts a fun cartoon series that offers four episodes tonight. They range from Brandy's first jungle sleepover to Whiskers' attempt to baby sit crocodile eggs. Kaley Cuoco ("8 Simple Rules") is ideal as Brandy; Charlie Adler is sometimes excessive as Whiskers. Still, the result is fun for kids and some adults. "The Road to El Dorado" (2000), 7 p.m., ABC. Throughout the Olympics, the Disney Channel has been serving up animated movies at 8 p.m. Tonight, Disney-owned ABC does the same. This story has two con men following a map toward the legendary city of El Dorado. Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh star; the songs have words by Tim Rice ("Evita," "Jesus Christ Superstar") and music by Elton John. "The Amazing Race," 7 p.m., CBS. This is a quick rerun of Tuesday's episode with the six remaining duos reaching Tanzania. "Recipe For Disaster" (2003), 8 p.m., Pax TV. In this comedy, John Larroquette and Lesley Ann Warren play a married couple preparing to open a new restaurant. When they don't show up on opening night, the kids take over. "Navy NCIS," 9 p.m., CBS. The mummified remains of a Navy officer are found 10 years after his death.
Olympics, daytime and evening. As the second week begins, the range of the Olympic competition continues to expand. Track events are getting busier. Prime time (6 to 10 p.m. on NBC) has the gold-medal finals of the women's 100-meter sprint.
