Three arrested after break-in

Quick action by an off-duty police officer led to the arrest of three O'ahu men yesterday morning in connection with a car break-in at the Halona Blowhole lookout.

A Baltimore man, 43, had reported that his car had been broken into at the lookout at about 10:45 a.m.

A short time later, the off-duty officer saw what looked like suspicious activity at the nearby Lana'i lookout and called on-duty officers. Uniformed officers arrived and found items in the suspects' car similar to those the Baltimore man said had been stolen. The tourist later identified the items as his.

Arrested on suspicion of unlawfully entering a motor vehicle were a Honolulu man, 21; a Waipahu man, 29; and a Pearl City man, 23.

Two teen boys robbery suspects

Two Windward O'ahu boys, 14 and 15, were arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery after a 15-year-old boy told police the two robbed him at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday near Kamehameha Highway-Green Valley Road intersection near Ka'a'awa.

The boy who said he was robbed told police the older youth held him while the younger boy slapped him several times in the head. He said both boys demanded money.

Thief flees with cash register

A sales clerk at a convenience store in the 2100 block of North School Street told police a man entered the store at about 10:30 last night, waved a handgun, and showed her his ammunition before taking a cash register and fleeing makai on foot.

Man reports kidnap in Kalihi

Police are investigating a report by a 34-year-old man who said a stranger driving a gray, imported car pulled up to him about 10:30 last night, ordered him into the car and drove him around Kalihi.

The man said the abductor took his wallet and released him in Mapunapuna.

Two men report Makiki robbery

Two men told police they were victims of a strong-arm robbery and assault in Makiki at 7:30 a.m. Friday.

The men said a youth they did not know took money from one of the men and then struck the second man before running away.

Officers chased down a 17-year-old boy and arrested him on suspicion of robbery and assault.
