• Veteran local wine authority BRIAN GEISER has been named sommelier at Chef Mavro restaurant. Geiser has served as independent wine consultant to the restaurant since its December 1998 opening. He will be responsible for serving and describing wines to guests, training staff, developing wine events, managing inventory, organizing the beverage department and pre-selecting wines for consideration by the restaurant's food and wine-pairing selection committee.

GREG U. SHIGEMASA has been named sales manager at Waialua's Oils of Aloha, manufacturer of internationally distributed kukui and macadamia nut oils for the cosmetic, food and pharmaceutical industries. Shigemasa is also an adjunct instructor of management at Hawai'i Pacific University.

Bank of Hawaii has announced the hiring of two investment consultants for its Bankoh Investment Services Inc. subsidiary:

KYLE K. KAGIMOTO will serve as vice president and investment consultant, serving clients from the bank's Kaimuki, Manoa, Kapahulu and university-area branches. The eight-year industry veteran was most recently assistant vice president and financial consultant at American Savings Bank.

GARETH I. KANESHIRO has been hired as vice president and investment consultant at the bank's Pearlridge branch. The 16-year industry veteran was most recently vice president and investment specialist at BancWest Investment Services, First Hawaiian Bank.

DAVEN HERMOSURA, a four-year Paradise Cruise veteran, has added the responsibilities of westbound sales manager to his present duties as manager of Star of Honolulu's Waikiki dinner cruise. In the new position, Hermosura will work with sales and promotions for Mainland and local military business for the 1,500-passenger Star of Honolulu, the 340-passenger Starlet and the 149-passenger Spirit of Lahaina.

THOMAS MAYEUX, former manager of the Wal-Mart store in Bayou Vista, La., has been named manager for the Royal Kunia outlet in Waipahu. He has held positions at company stores in several Louisiana and Florida locations.

JOAN ROBINSON-WHITAKER — who previously has been self-employed and worked in partnership with her husband, John Whitaker, an architect at Robinson Whitaker Design — has joined Kitchen Concepts Plus Inc. as designer. The 25-year veteran of residential, commercial, hospitality, facilities, healthcare and retail design also has served as senior interior designer with Leo A. Daly international planning and design firm, and as interiors project designer in Bank of Hawaii's corporate facilities division. An industry award-winner and member of the American Society of Interior Designers, Robinson-Whitaker is co-founder of the ASID Design Awards.

DANA WASHOFSKY, a veteran of the hospitality marketing industry, has been named by Marriott Hotels and Resorts Hawaii to a newly created position of marketing communications manager. Most recently, Washofsky managed operations of the local office of Yesawich Pepperdine Brown & Russell, overseeing advertising for Outrigger Hotels and Resorts. Her area of responsibility included Waikoloa Beach Marriott and Wailea Marriott, Outrigger properties that were flagged as Marriott hotels in 2003. She also served as media director for Laird Christianson Advertising for 10 years, primarily responsible for the Marriott Hawai'i account. In her new position, she will oversee, among other things, advertising, public relations and e-marketing for Marriott's nine regional properties statewide.
