God vs. Satan casts out aliens

The demon thriller "Exorcist: The Beginning" debuted as the top-grossing weekend movie with $18.2 million in ticket sales, displacing "Alien vs. Predator," which tumbled to No. 4 with $12.5 million.
"Without a Paddle," a comedy about three pals on a slapstick canoe trip in search of treasure, opened in second place with $13.7 million.
After two strong weeks in limited release, "Open Water" expanded nationwide and came in at No. 5 with $11.75 million.
Another popular limited-release flick, Zach Braff's "Garden State," took the No. 10 spot with $3.2 million.

Japan Philharmonic Orchestra playing its first gigs in Islands
The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra will perform for the first time in Hawai'i at 7:30 tonight and tomorrow at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. The performances celebrate 150 years of relations between Japan and the United States.
One-hundred musicians will be conducted by Kenichiro Kobayashi, with guests Masayuki Kino, concertmaster, and Kaori Muraji, guitar soloist, also performing.
