Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge will attend an international conference in Hawai'i in November, and Gov. Linda Lingle is trying to get National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice to attend another conference.
Ridge is expected to deliver keynote remarks at the 2004 Asia-Pacific Homeland Security Summit scheduled for Nov. 14-17 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, according to Lingle spokesman Russell Pang. Ridge spoke to the gathering by teleconference last year. He met with Lingle in Hawai'i in March on his way to Asia.

Meanwhile, Lingle said she had asked Rice to attend the inaugural International Women's Leadership Conference Nov. 17-19, also at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Lingle told a gathering of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i that her office has yet to hear back from Rice. Pang said Lingle expects to ask Rice again when the two are at the Republican National Convention in New York next week.
The women's leadership symposium will feature world-renowned speakers from various fields sharing information on strategies and skills required for career advancement.
