Advertiser Staff
An Army contract for construction at Schofield Barracks has been awarded to Dick Pacific Construction Co., U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie announced yesterday.
The company will build a barracks, a soldier community building and four company operations facilities.
The contract is worth $64.6 million. Estimated completion date is May 6, 2007.
Dick Pacific, a Hawai'i-based firm and subsidiary of Pennsylvania-based construction giant Dick Corp., specializes in construction in government and private sector hospitality, retail, healthcare, heavy power and industrial sectors.
Dick Pacific is the general contractor on the new Wal-mart project, and also built The Ho-nolulu Advertiser's new printing press facility in Kapolei.
"This project is a significant upgrade for the quality of life for soldiers at Schofield, and it will modernize facilities built more than 80 years ago," Abercrombie said in a news release yesterday. "I'm especially pleased that a Hawai'i company won this award."
Abercrombie, D-Hawai'i, is a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, which authorizes military construction projects.
