Viloria to fight in Vegas

In the equivalent of a blind bet, Waipahu boxer Brian Viloria will fight Mexico's Agustin Luna in Las Vegas on Sept. 3.
Viloria should be the odds-on favorite anyway.
The North American Boxing Federation (NABF) flyweight champion is 15-0 with nine knockouts. He knocked out Gilberto Keb Baas in the 11th round in his last bout in June.
Luna is 18-13 with 12 knockouts, and his last bout was for the World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight championship. He was knocked out in the third round by champion Jorge Arce in that November 2002 fight.
"Luna has been in the ring with some of the best, so I consider this another step toward the world title for Brian," said Viloria's manager Gary Gittelsohn.
The Viloria-Luna bout will be the main event of a card at the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino. It is not scheduled to be televised.
Gittelsohn said the announcement of the bout was delayed because of immigration problems with Luna.
"We've actually been working on it for a while, so Brian was aware that it was coming," Gittelsohn said.
Viloria is the No. 2-ranked contender in the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and is No. 3 in the WBA and WBC.
"I'm getting more and more anxious for that big shot," Viloria said. "Hopefully, by the end of the year I'll be ready."
Gittelsohn said Viloria is still without a promotional team. He has been without a promoter since severing ties with DiBella Entertainment last November.
"There's been no shortage of offers," Gittelsohn said. "But we're not in a position where we have to sign something right this minute."

"I know absolutely nothing about this guy," Viloria, 23, said. "But I prepare for every opponent the same, so I feel like I'm ready."
