O'ahu advances to Babe Ruth semifinals

Paul Snieder pitched a five-hitter with seven strikeouts, and Zachary Kometani hit a two-run single as O'ahu defeated Nash County, N.C., 3-1, yesterday to reach the semifinals of the Babe Ruth World Series for 14-year-olds at Wilson, N.C.

"We're comfortable in games like this," O'ahu manager Eric Kadooka said. "You try to get ahead and stay ahead."

O'ahu actually fell behind after Nash County scored in the top of the first. But O'ahu tied the score on an error in the bottom of the second and Kometani untied it with a bases-loaded single in the fifth.

O'ahu will next play tomorrow at 2 p.m. HST.
