Police called in over bogus bill

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of forgery after he tried to pass an "obviously counterfeit" $50 bill at the Pali Longs Drugs store this morning, police said.

They said the man put several items on the counter at about 2:30 a.m. and attempted to pay for them with the bogus bill. Store employees called police and the man was arrested.

Expired stickers lead to an arrest

An expired safety-inspection sticker and tax emblem led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man on suspicion of auto-theft yesterday.

A patrol officer noticed the Jeep the man was driving had expired decals, and pulled the driver over near Ward Avenue and Kapi'olani Boulevard.

A check of the car's vehicle identification number showed the Jeep had been reported stolen. The driver was arrested.

Boy suspected of robbing tourist

An O'ahu boy is facing theft and burglary charges after allegedly taking items from a bag a tourist left on a Waikiki beach while he went for a swim.

When the man got out of the water and went back to his bag, he discovered things had been taken from it. And when he returned to his hotel, he noticed personal property had been taken from there, as well, police said.

A witness to the beach theft identified the boy, who was arrested.

Man, 34, arrested on sex charge

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault Wednesday, based a report by an 'Ewa Beach girl who told police the man assaulted her last Nov. 26 and another time before that.

The girl told school officials who, in turn, contacted police.

The man who was arrested based on the girl's complaint was positively identified by her and then released pending further investigation.
