A&B finalizes Kaka'ako deal

Alexander & Baldwin Inc. has completed the purchase of a 2.7-acre vacant parcel in Kaka'ako from Kakaako M-P Development, on which it will develop a high-rise residential condominium.

The property, bounded by South, Queen, Kawaiaha'o and Emily streets, is fully zoned for residential condominium use with all necessary infrastructure in place. The acquisition is A&B's 21st Hawai'i real-estate investment outside of its core landholdings over the past five years.



Pacific Wings abandons plan

Maui-based Pacific Wings, citing lack of support, has withdrawn its application for a federal exemption that would allow it to start offering flights within American Samoa.

The airline in June applied for an exemption from the U.S. Transportation Department to operate the flights, but in an Aug. 18-dated letter to the Federal Aviation Administration said it wanted to withdraw the request.
