HPU still perfect in women's volleyball

The Hawai'i Pacific University women's volleyball team swept Mercyhurst (Pa.) yesterday at St. Andrew's Priory Gym to finish the Hawaiian Style Classic undefeated.

The Sea Warriors won, 30-22, 30-12, 30-12, to finish the tournament 4-0.

Flavia Brakling led the No. 12 Sea Warriors with 14 kills.

Earlier, Mercyhurst (1-4) swept Hawai'i-Hilo, 30-23, 26-30, 30-20.

Maite Ardies had nine kills and 15 digs for the Vulcans, who fell to 3-1.

Humboldt State (Calif.) also participated in the tournament.


TRANSPORTATION

Roberts offering service for Warriors

Roberts Hawai'i School Bus is offering round-trip, air-conditioned shuttle bus service to Aloha Stadium for the University of Hawai'i football season opener against Florida Atlantic on Saturday.

The cost is $6 for the round trip. Buses will service three areas:

Bus No. 3 will pick up at Hawai'i Kai Park 'n' Ride at 4:30 p.m., then pick up at Bank of Hawai'i at Kahala Mall at 4:45 p.m., and proceed directly to the stadium.

Bus No. 2 will pick up at Kailua District Park, Kainalu Avenue, at 4:30 p.m., then pick up at the Windward Mall Shopping Center on Alaloa Street facing Sears at 4:45 p.m., and proceed directly to the stadium.

Bus No. 1 will pick up at Mililani Mauka Park 'n' Ride at 4:30 p.m., and proceed directly to the stadium.

GOLF

Rodriguez claims Amatour event

Samuel Rodriguez III shot a final-round 68 yesterday to finish with a three-stroke victory at an Amatour event at Olomana Golf Course.

Rodriguez finished with a two-round total of 141. Shawn Tanoue, Earl Medeiros and Craig Uyehara finished tied for second.
