Candidates in series of debates on television

Political candidates and others will discuss their positions in a series of debates airing on 'Olelo Community Television beginning next week.
The first hour-long debate, airing at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7, will feature the Hawai'i chairpersons of the local Democratic Party, Republican Party, Green Party and Libertarian Party. The debates will be broadcast live every weeknight at 6:30 p.m. on 'Olelo's VIEWS Channel, Oceanic Cable Channel 54 on Sept. 7- 17.
Nine Honolulu mayoral candidates will face off in a 90-minute debate on Sept. 8. 'Olelo will also air debates featuring candidates running for: the 23rd Senate District (Kahuku, Kane'ohe); the 43rd House District ('Ewa Beach, West Loch); the Honolulu City Council District (Leeward Coast); the 42nd House District (Waipahu, Hono-uliuli, 'Ewa); and the Board of Education at-large seat.
'Olelo will also begin a "Candidates in Focus" series in which candidates will discuss their views within seven minutes of unedited air time. The series will run Sept. 7-18 on Oceanic Cable Channel 54. It is also available on-demand at www.olelo.org and digitally on Oceanic Cablevision's iControl Video on Demand, channel 110.
