Associated Press

A Marine from Hawai'i has been killed in Iraq, the Pentagon said today.

Lance Cpl. Blake A. Magaoay, 20, of Pearl City, died Monday as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, the Pentagon said in a news release.

Magaoay was a rifleman assigned to the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force based at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Magaoay joined the Marine Corps on Aug. 28, 2002, base officials said. He is the second serviceman from a Hawai'i hometown killed in Iraq. A total of 34 soldiers, Marines and sailors and one civilian with notable Hawai'i ties have died in Iraq since the war began in March 2003.
