UH volleyball player Watanabe out for season

Advertiser Staff

Ashley Watanabe, the starting libero for the University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team, is out for the rest of the season after breaking her right hand yesterday.

The second-ranked Rainbow Wahine open the NCAA Tournament tomorrow against Colorado at Fort Collins, Colo.

Watanabe, a junior from 'Aiea, suffered a spiral fracture of her fourth metacarpal during practice, a UH athletic department spokesman said today.

Watanabe earned second team all-Western Athletic Conference honors and was named to the all-WAC tournament team this season. Hawai'i won its fifth straight WAC tournament title last month.
