Hawai'i players in NCAAs

Eight players and two coaches from Hawai'i, not including the University of Hawai'i, will compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball tournament.
Washington freshman defensive specialist Ashley Aratani (Iolani '04 of Honolulu) has played in eight games. Mike Johnson (Kamehameha '98) is an assistant coach for the Huskies (24-2), who play Idaho (17-12) on Friday.
Hall
UC Santa Barbara freshman setter Ashley Dutro (attended Punahou, from Honolulu) was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team. The Gauchos (23-3) play Alabama A&M (20-5) on Friday.
Stanford senior libero Leahi Hall (King Kekaulike '00 of Ha'iku) is averaging 1.91 digs per game. The Cardinal (24-6) play Jacksonville (15-12) on Friday.
Loyola Marymount junior outside hitter Michelle Look (Punahou '02 of Kailua) has played in 89 games, and is averaging 0.16 kills and 3.80 digs. The Lions (17-11) play UCLA (18-10) on Friday.
Santa Clara junior setter Kristen Luxton (attended Maryknoll, from Honolulu) led the team with 7.74 assists per game in 100 games. The Broncos (18-8) play Kansas (18-11) on Friday.
Colorado junior defensive specialist/libero Krislen Morgado (Punahou '01 of Pearl City) has played in five games. Pi'i Aiu (Kamehameha, from Kaua'i) is head coach for the Buffaloes (14-13), who play Hawai'i (28-0) tomorrow.
UC Irvine junior middle blocker Amanda Vazquez (Moanalua '02 of Honolulu) leads the team in total blocks with 108 and was a Big West honorable-mention selection. The Anteaters (18-10) play Arizona (18-10) on Friday.
Rice sophomore middle blocker Amber Wiedemann (Mililani '03) averages 0.89 kills and 0.61 blocks per game in 18 games. The Owls (25-4) play Michigan (19-12) on Friday.
More volleyball
Fairfield (Conn.) freshman outside hitter Lindsey Lee (St. Joseph '04 of Hilo) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Year and earned a spot on the All-MAAC first team.
Freshman outside hitter Jazmin Pa'akaula (St. Joseph '04 of Hilo) earned a spot on the All-MAAC second team.
Lee leads Fairfield with 3.70 kills per game and is second with 4.34 digs per game. She garnered a MAAC Offensive Player of the Week award, and a Defensive Player of the Week award earlier this season.
Lee was named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team, after posting 26 kills and 29 digs in two matches over the weekend, when Fairfield lost to Iona in the championship match.
Pa'akaula was named MAAC Rookie of the Week five times this season, and averaged 3.35 kills and 4.24 digs per game.
Sophomore Kiana Kauwe (Kamehameha of Honolulu) was named to the New York Lottery MAAC All-Academic Team.
Oregon sophomore outside hitter Sarah Mason (St. Joseph '03 of Hilo) was chosen all-Pac-10 honorable mention.
Hofstra (Hempstead, N.Y.) freshman setter Shellane Ogoshi (Roosevelt '04 of Honolulu) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year.
Ogoshi, who was also named to the CAA All-Rookie team, led Hofstra with 11.94 assists and 3.59 digs per game.
Cal State Dominguez Hills senior middle blocker Keesha Aldridge ('Aiea '01) was chosen to the California Collegiate Athletic Association second team.
Aldridge, the only four-year starter on the squad, averaged 2.58 kills and 1.12 blocks per game this season. She hit .313, the second-highest hitting percentage in school history.
She is the school's career leader in blocks and block assists (numbers not available).
Menlo College (Atherton, Calif.) freshman setter Alyssa Chang (Maryknoll '04 of Honolulu) was named the California Pacific Conference Freshman of the Year and was selected to the first team, along with sophomore Sanoe Eselu (Moanalua '03 of Waipahu).
Junior outside hitter/libero/setter Kari Shimomura (McKinley '02 of Kaimuki) was named to the second team and freshman libero Christa Hewett (Kamehameha '04 of Pearl City) received honorable-mention honors.

Junior libero Kehaulani Marciel (Kamehameha of Kailua), freshman libero Krista Catian (Hanalani of Wai'anae), freshman middle Courtney Adaro (Moanalua), freshman right side hitter Talia Onosai (Word of Life '04 of Pearl City), sophomore outside hitter Ames Samelu (of Honolulu) and sophomore defensive specialist/outside hitter Chelsey Torres (of Hilo).
Pacific Lutheran's Kevin Aoki (Iolani '80) was named American Volleyball Coaches Association West Region Division III Coach of the Year. He guided the team to the Northwest Conference title after a 2-6 start.
Santa Barbara City College sophomore libero Kalei Lau (Hilo '02) was chosen to the Western State Conference first team for the second year in a row.
Freshman outside hitter Healani Leite-Ah Yo (Kamehameha '04 of Hilo) was a second-team selection.
