Lahaina bicyclist killed in hit-run

Advertiser Staff

Maui police yesterday were looking for a driver of a car that hit and killed a 40-year-old Lahaina man as he was riding his bicycle on Honoapi'ilani Highway in Ka'anapali.

Police said Lloyd Von Stockhausen died at the scene of the hit-and-run crash, near the Pu'ukoli'i Road intersection about 3:21 a.m. yesterday.

Based on evidence found at the scene, investigators have identified the suspect vehicle as a light green 1994 or 1995 Ford Taurus four-door sedan. The car would have significant front-end damage, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on the case to call the Traffic Section at (808) 270-6537 or the Communication Section at (808) 244-6400.
