Man dies when struck by tractorPolice said a 42-year-old man was killed this morning in the Horizon Lines shipping yard at Pier 51A on Sand island after he was struck by a tow tractor.
Police said the man, a Kane'ohe resident, was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident about 3:30 a.m.
Arrest made in alleged car theft
A 24-year-old woman was arrested for car theft atop Tantalus last night by a police officer who was making routine checks of lookout spots.
The officer came across the woman about 11:45 p.m. sitting alone in a car at one of the lookouts. A check of the license plate number showed the car had been reported stolen and the woman was arrested.
Man suspected in threat to brother
A 30-year-old Kalihi man was arrested last night after he allegedly threatened to shoot his 45-year-old brother.
Police said the two brothers live together in the same house and that the older brother told them he was sleeping in his room when his younger brother came in and began to argue with him.
The older brother said he told his younger brother to leave the room and let him sleep. He said his brother left momentarily but returned holding a .22-caliber handgun and threatened to shoot him. Police arrested the younger brother for suspicion of terroristic threatening.
Five men arrested in Kailua drug bust
Members of the Kailua police district's crime reduction unit arrested five men yesterday evening during a drug raid just before 6 p.m. at a house on Kihapai Street.
Lt. John McCarthy said the raid is part of a continuing effort to address the drug problem in Windward Oahu. Those arrested ranged in age from 31 to 51 and were arrested on suspicion of a variety of offenses, including possession or promotion of dangerous drugs, possession of harmful drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Five contempt of court warrants were also served on various members of the group.
Man nabbed in assault case
A 30-year-old Wai'anae man was arrested yesterday for suspicion of first-degree sexual assault after a 10-year-old girl claimed the man attacked her about 1 a.m. yesterday.
Police said the man who was arrested is a friend of the girl's family and had been allowed to sleep at the family's residence.
Police recover car said stolen
Police arrested a 24-year-old man at noon in Waipahu yesterday and recovered a car that had been reported stolen from a 27-year-old man in Kapolei earlier in the day.
A patrol officer noticed a man driving a car without wearing a seatbelt and ordered the car to pull over. The driver stopped, but got out of the car and ran. He was arrested for suspicion of car theft.
